Brave Little Lion
Children’s picture book created to support those with eating disorders. Illustrations were created using a combination of digital and print methods.
My enquiry for my dissertation explored ‘how do the beauty standards present in children’s picture books contribute to the development of eating disorders?’. Having lived with an eating disorder during my childhood, I wanted to create a resource that would help to support children living with an eating disorder.
This picture book was produced to help children deal with the symptoms of eating disorders, offering solutions and positive affirmations to help the child to build a more positive relationship with food. I plan to make further developments, by redesigning the front cover using different illustrations and choosing a font that is more legible and also better suits the visual identity.
